| The Stephen Ministry program of First Presbyterian Church is moving forward. Stephen Ministry is one of the “serving” ministries of the church. It involves people helping people during times of crisis or other events that significantly impact one’s life. Stephen Ministers are folks in the church who have completed 50 hours of specialized training in order to provide effective listening and support for a limited time to those who desire it. As is true of most people in service programs, Stephen Ministers have experienced their own crises and life-altering events and know the value of having someone to talk to on a regular basis. They also know the value of, and are committed to, keeping confidential all matters pertaining to their individual Stephen Ministry relationships. |
The goal of Stephen Ministers is to listen, support and clear the way for the healing power of Jesus Christ to effect any needed changes. God provides the healing; a Stephen Minister is simply one of the agents through which God might work in a given situation.
Call Matt Rich or Linda Metzger, Referrals Coordinators, to access this service for yourself or to recommend it for someone you care about. Only they and your Stephen Minister will know you have taken advantage of the opportunity for “the Church” to be the healing body God wants it to be. (From The Branch, 2-17-08)
